The “GK” refers to “Gambacher Kalbenstein,” the village and vineyard that Vetter farms. This is Vetter’s “Grand Cru” sourced from old-vine parcels on both sandstone and limestone. This is the weightiest of Stefan’s bottlings, the deepest and most complex. It is simply a monument of a wine and requires some time in the cellar and/or a healthy decant.
None other than the New York Times’ Eric Asimov wrote about one of Stefan Vetter’s Sylvaners as a “most memorable bottle of 2018.”
