Named for the herd of Roosevelt Elk that roam the nearby Coast Range Mountains, Elk Cove is one of Oregon's historic vineyards and was first planted in 1974 by Pat and Joe Campbell. Elk Cove remains family owned and second generation winemaker Adam Campbell is known for Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs, aromatic white wines like Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, and winery exclusives like their Chardonnay, Brut Rosé, Rieslings and a sweet dessert wine they call "Ultima".
Their Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is made with 100% estate grown fruit from all six of their vineyard sites: The Winery Estate, Mount Richmond, Five Mountain, Clay Court, Goodrich and Windhill. These sites are comprised of both Pommard and Dijon plant material, with multiple clones represented.
Bright cherry and raspberry aromas complement notes of cinnamon and delicate violet, while the palate strikes a balance between juicy plum and boysenberry and complex, earthy cola and leather, finishing with chalky tannins and hints of crème brulée.
“A dynamic red, with vivacious cherry and cranberry flavors highlighted by rose
petal, orange peel and forest floor accents, which glide on the long, sleek finish.”
