Domaine Henri Delagrange is a 7th generation Burgundy domaine known for their soulful Volnay and Meursault bottlings. The Volnay vineyard from which their Bourgogne Côte d'Or hails boasts 50-year old vines and a long purchasing contract with Lalou Bize-Leroy for her Maison Leroy label. After a recent disagreement with Lalou, the Delagrange family decided to cancel their contract and bottle the wine themselves. Why didn't they simply include it in their own Volnay? Because 50-year old vines weren't old enough for their 100-year old bottlings!
Whether called Volnay or Bourgogne Côte d'Or, this bottle delivers the kind of value we're always searching for. To put it simply, Leroy's loss is our gain! It's so rare to be the first ones to stumble on a wine like this, which is why we're recommending all Burgundy lovers stock up before the secret is out.
Succulent red fruit with plenty of finesse, this declassified Volnay from 50-year old vines struts its stuff with precision and elegance. Truly a pleasure to drink!
