"The 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Malconsorts has turned out brilliantly. Mingling aromas of blackberries and cassis with hints of orange rind, rose petals, licorice, sweet spices and loamy soil, it's full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with a deep and concentrated core of fruit that largely conceals its fine structuring tannins. Concluding with a long, sapid finish, it will require a bit of patience, but in 2019, it isn't as brooding as young Malconsorts can often be. Domaine de Montille's cellars are cold, and élevage is unhurried. These are often among the harder wines to read during my fall barrel tastings. So, this year, I asked winemaker Brian Sieve to instead present some finished 2019s in bottle. The vintage has turned out beautifully, delivering moderate alcohols (up to 13.5%) and terrific concentration in both colors. Fine-boned and elegant, the whites are tightly wound and built to age, and the reds are supple, charming and perfumed. (WK) "
"Firm reduction flattens the underlying fruit today. More interesting are the almost painfully intense and markedly mineral-driven flavors that flash a taut muscularity that carries over to the powerful and hugely long finale. This too is very tightly wound, and I would recommend not touching this beauty for at least 10 years. *Burghound Outstanding!* "
