Deep, dark color. Round. Rather round and silky nose of dark fruit notes. Fresh palate on very ripe berries and warm fruit notes, with the perfect Cabernet Franc and terroir, racy touch, earthy expression, finish is mellow and long. Young but already so elegant, balanced and showing how 2017 has been limited in yield but so generous aromatically.
Vine age – 10-35 years; “Tuffeau” soils of limestone-clay with chalky subsoil; vineyard sustainably certified HEV level 2; fermented in stainless steel tanks 10-14 days; aged in tank 10 months before bottling at the estate.
For six generations, from 1835, the Duveau family has produced wine at their estate, Domaine de La Guilloterie, in the Saumur Champigny region of the Loire Valley. Now, Patrice and Philippe Duveau carry on the family legacy and manage the 50 hectare (123 acre) estate.
